TLDG is currently working with IMAX to Build the First-Ever IMAX Cinema in Eastern Taiwan. The IMAX cinema will be located in the Huilanwan area and feature approximately 400 seats and a 22 m by 12.9 m monitor. With the total number of seats to be increased to 900 in the future, the IMAX cinema will become Hualien’s largest cinema and is scheduled for opening in 2017. Concerning the smart mall, it has five stories and is approximately 10 thousand ping in size. It is a compound mall with a multi-hall cinema, shopping streets, food courts, and restaurants. The IMAX cinema will become one of the tourist attractions of Hualien and Eastern Taiwan that brings top audio-visual experiences to local residents as well as boost the tourism industry.
IMAX (short for "Image MAXimum") means maximum image and entails a movie projector system that plays larger films with higher resolution than traditional films. Compared with other image display systems used in large-scale and specific venues, IMAX is the most successful. TLDG will transform the Huilanwan into a cultural and creative industry park. For example, it has recently held an Eelin Star competition with Eelin Entertainment Co. Ltd. at the Jiaci Park. The Jiaci Park is nearly a thousand ping in size and contains a 800-ping audiovisual film production studio, which is the largest in Taiwan. The said studio contains a rehearsal room, a post-production center, and a stage. It is also the location where the Formosa Aboriginal Song and Dance Troupe, a world-renowned dance group, is currently practicing. The presence of the said dance troupe gives the park a healthy, casual, and culturally creative feel.
The Huilanwan area has become a popular tourist attraction in Hualien, drawing waves of visitors on weekends and holidays. Visitors can stroll leisurely in the park, enjoy a diversity of birds such as Styan bulbul and ospreys, view black swans and ducks swimming in the ecological pool, and interact up close with Formosan silk deers. These features make the Huilanwan Park a must-go recreational location for Hualien residents. Also, many large-scale events such as speed walking, bird-viewing, running races, and sports car races have been held in the Huilanwan Park. The rising fame of the Huilanwan Park has made it the best location for hosting large-scale events in Eastern Taiwan.
The Huilanwan Park is located by the Huilanwan in Ji’an Town, Hualien County. The park occuies 45 hectares in size containing a construction area of approximately 400 thousand ping. The park was built on the themes of LOHAS and cultural creativity. The Huilanwan Park, which contains the world’s first 4th generation smart home (i.e., the "ubiquitous" U-Home), was recently completed and opened to the public. The park was built via the collaborative efforts of TLDG and renowned international architectural teams such as ARUP (from the U.K.), BIG (from Denmark), and Dr. Ken Sakamura (the Father of IoT), in which the goal was to create a hub that is “green, smart, and culturally creative." The park contains the Huilanwan Sunrise Villa, a small theater, a cinema, a five-star tourist hotel, and a LOHAS medical beauty center. Concerning the cinema, it has obtained a construction license and is currently under construction. The cinema is scheduled for opening in 2017.
Soil prepatation and environmental arrangement as well as world-class architectural planning of the Huilanwan area took 6 to 7 years to complete. The Huilanwan area became the first construction project in Taiwan to win two international construction awards, i.e., the Health Care & Wellness Award issued by the Architizer A+ Awards and the Best Future Project Award issued by Cannes MIPIM before actual construction. The success of the Huilanwan area will attract both professional personnel and various industries to move to Hualien, which will engender a positive change for the region and help it become a living paradise for Chinese people around the world.
